Planning Paralysis

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

- Mike Tyson

What is an enemy of execution?

Planning paralysis.

It’s easy to fall into. Hell, I’ve done it!

Before you tackle something new, cover all your bases, right? Leave no stone unturned.

Study. Research. Never risk a wrong decision.

Ironically, the most successful people are not planners. They figure things out as they go.

They are driven by what they want.

Of course, a level of planning is required for anything, but you don’t need to have every detail figured out before you start.

If you do, you will always hit snags. You will get discouraged. You will doubt yourself. Then you’ll delay ever starting.

It’s okay to plan but avoid planning paralysis.

Trust yourself. You’ll be fine. You’ll figure it out as you go. As Jesse Itzler says, just get me in the room, I’ll think of what to say once I’m in there. Start with a plan, but don’t get stuck in the planning phase cogitating each permutation. You’ll never get out!

Don’t let life pass you by. As Alan Jackson said, better live while you’re in it because we only get a minute then it’s gone in a blink.
